Unbelievably huge thanks to *Tasastock for providing the stock photo from which this is copied. I hate sounding like a fawning sycophant, but it would not be possible for me to do figure work without stock photos. The fact that tasastock and other stockers are willing to provide this resource for FREE boggles my mind. Working from photos is also a lovely way to practice, your model never needs to get up to go to the loo, they don't ask for cups of tea and they sit there silent and completely unmoving for days at a time if needed. So thank you.

Before I launch into my customary self-criticism I'm going to go right out on a limb and admit that I like this. Not massively in love with it, but happier than usual.

Used a layer for the outline then everything else went straight onto canvas, though I did isolate the fabric with magic wand selection so I didn't go over the lines. Colour-wise I blocked in base colours very crudely, picking from my favourite bit of the wheel, then worked around the whole figure a bit at a time with brushes getting the details in. Problem here is that I wasn't working with a swatch of colours so the palette varies a lot from body part to body part. I did try to even things out a bit at the end, but looking at the photo there is a big range of skin colour, tan/brown over the sternum, very pale pink on the sides of the breasts and really bright, deep pink on the fingers and toes so my version isn't a complete departure from reality. I'm not convinced that using the colour wheel is a very wise idea, there are some very over-saturated highlights in there that don't sit right, I think I'm better off mixing colours myself.

I had to go back and look, and I think I kind of see what you mean about an uneven skin tone. It's really not that noticeable unless you're looking for it. The high saturation highlights are a little odd, but they're not really bad either. I tend to blot a little of a color off to one side so I can color pick it back later, helps me to remember what my main tones were. Of course, I also tend to use fewer than you, which is why your skin tones are strong and mine are weak ;p Personally I think this is amazing :)
